Like November’s soap making session, I ran this class though York Learning and it’s one I’ve been looking forward to running since we booked it in. My learners arrived at Huntington School for 10.30 and I started the session with demonstrations and by talking everyone through what materials and ingredients we’d be using. I handed everyone their recipe book, a wee handout with instructions and guidelines for the five botanical soaps that they’d be creating throughout the day.
Between now and Christmas I’m teaching a different workshop each weekend. This weekend’s class (Sat 12 November) was soap making. I ran it through City of York Council so they handled the bookings side of things and provided the teaching space, a cookery room in Huntington School. Every learner had a hob and work space. In between my NCS work, I booked in various summer school art sessions, including a soap making day at the Osbaldwick Owls Out of School Club. On Wednesday 17th August I packed up my little car to the rafters with moulds, dyes, aprons, soap base and tiny, adorable toys and set off for the session.
